Led Zeppelin
Today in class when we listened to Led Zeppelin, I was excited because they are a historically significant band and lots of people I know love their music. I found that the music was very up tempo and made me want to get up and move around which I liked. When the two longest songs on the album appeared it was hardly noticed because they were so well drawn together with the rest of the album and for the most part all of the songs felt the same length even though some took up a lot of time. I liked stairway to heaven because it was cool to see what was popular when that band first started. That song was thought of as a hit and I like to think I listened to it despite how many say it is overplayed.

50 Cent
Now that 50 Cent has been making music again, he is set a release date for his next studio album called Street King Immortal. I like how he has bounced back after everyone said he wouldn't. He has one of the best verses in one of the most hyped songs of the year: Hate bein' sober, by Chief Keif. Also 50 cent has been busy on his own tracks and singles, one of them is called major distribution. I like his serious and punishing new style. It makes me feel like he is in his prime again. Here are the two tracks.

Suit & Tie
Someone who hasn't been on the music in a while is Justin Timberlake, and is starting to release music again. He just released a single called Suit & Tie featuring Jay-Z. I typically don't care for heavy pop music like this with the bubbly beats, but I like how Justin Timberlake is returning to music and with the addition of Jay-Z it completes the song.
Mashups
In class we watched the documentary about Girl Talk and his mashups, and there is a controversy surrounding whether or not the mashups should be aloud without infringement on the copy right acts. I believe that mashups should be expressed and should be an available piece of music that is for sale and for the publics use. Another way that certain music is reused is in something called a sample. In my opinion Kanye West samples songs the best. I found this video interesting, and it explains samples and slows them down.

Black Sabbath
In class we listened to Black Sabbath, which involved a lot of heavy guitar parts and loud distorted tones. I like guitar and electric guitar but sometimes at this level it can be too much for me. Although I liked listening to Black Sabbath because the type of rock songs that they did are classics and the rock paved the way for some of the newer rock we have today. Like we were saying, for every genre there has to be a start up genre and those genres evolve over time. Overall I think I am going to enjoy listening to more of their music.
Long Live A$AP
An upcoming artist that I have been listening to ever sine his first mix tape and his early singles. A$AP rocky has a unique sound that is explosive and also provokes motivation. I like his music because every song has clever lyrics with grimy beats that have heavy bass. A$AP rocky wants to provide his listeners with evidence of his past in harlem and you can tell he wants to be part of a movement. His music is going to revive the rap game into something new. His newest album called "Long Live A$AP" is one of my favorite albums right row and I think it deserves 10 stars.
