Work Remix
A$AP Rocky, a rapper who created A$AP mob recently featured on a track from one of the members of A$AP mob. A$AP Ferg the creator of the song, put A$AP rocky, trinidad James, Schoolboy Q, and french Montana on the track as well. It was completely a hit. Each part was impressive and even though some of the rappers listed are normally not good at rapping, i was very impressed.
Massive Attack
In class we listened to Massive Attack, a band with a completely unique genre for it's time period. I liked how the album exhibited trip/alternative instrumentals over computer generated rap beats as well as real instruments. The first four tracks on the album were solid and started it off with a bang. I liked the sound of the music and was mesmerized by the way all of the sounds were incorporated. I will definitely download their album.

ACL
In class we discussed the ACL lineup, we talked about some of the good bands that will be playing and we talked about some of those who are questionably a bad choice for the festival. I like Walk on the Moon, Kaskade, Kendrick Lamar, Phoenix, Kings of Leon, Vampire Weekend, Arctic Monkeys, Toro Y Moi, and a lot of others. When we listened to Lionel Richie in class, I almost didn't take him seriously and I didn't understand the purpose of his music video. I also found it quite odd that someone like him would be playing at ACL. Either way ACL should be a good experience and I think I will find a few more new bands.
5 star rap albums
In class we were talkig about memorable rap albums. The XXL magazine released a "best albums" list, all of the albums got a rating of XXL. They included: "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill", "The Blueprint", "Get Rich or Die Tryin", "Be", "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy", and G.O.O.D kid M.A.A.D City". All of these albums I agree with. I would also add drakes "Take Care" and ASAP rocky's longlineasap to the list.
Here are the best songs from these two albums

Headband
B.o.B and 2chainz recently performed a good duo. "Headband" their new song features a whistle for the background instrumental. The lyrics are easily heard because the whistle beat makes way for good clarity. It was impressive to see how well they filled the silence and it was well accomplished.
Class reflection
In class we listened to nirvana, the album we heard was an example of classic rock, and all of the songs were recognizable to me. I liked to listen to something other than rap or the alternative I hear everyday. It made me feel good about my music choice since I got some history and got to listen to something from a different generation. The lyrics and the lead vocalist were very impressive and made me want to listen more. I hope we will get to hear even more popular songs by them.

Class Reflection
When the sub on friday said that we would be listening to LCD sound system, i really got excited. I already knew how good of a band they were and how well they performed together. The instruments in the band make a techno feel, as well as a rock feel. I like the sound of the music it can be fast paced or slow and rhythmic. When the songs are good I tend to love LCD sound system. I hope to listen to them a lot more as the year progresses
Memories Back Then
A new song featuring T.I. Kendrick Lamar, and B.o.B, and a girl R&B singer who I've never heard of was recently released. It is called memories back then. The hard bars of T.I. start off the song and then the chorus consists of Kris Stephan's amazing voice. Kendrick finishes off the song with a bang. He rhymes fast and makes his bars catchy. Here's the Song

Nirvana
In class we listened to nirvana, I liked the simplistic style of rock that they presented. It was a relief after some of the acts that came before them. The sound they have is interesting in a way that it has a great rhythm and is not at all annoying or over powerful. The singing in the band is on key and very good. I like to listen to their songs and they have many respectable hits. I like the history that is also involved in them and the many other rock bands they represent.
Travi$ Scott
Relations with G.O.O.D music and a wide fan base from the song "Sin City" on Kanye West's latest album, have made the 20 year old kid, Travi$ Scott famous. An upcoming rapper who has been said to sound like Kanye and Kid Cudi has been making it big. His style is amazing and his upbeat instrumentals he raps over are worth every listen. Travi$ Scott has released a few singles such as "Upper Echelon", and "Quintana". Both have a fast pace to them and in "Upper Echelon" T.I and 2 chainz feature.
Here they are

Kid Cudi Indicud
Kid Cudi released a new studio album titled "Indicud". I have to admit. I was not very impressed. Only 8 of the tracks are "listenable". Among those eight tracks four of them were released months ago. I feel like Cudi's career is slowly declining. With that I want to take time to review his career.
The best song from his debut album and the best song from his latest album (Indicud)

Class Refelection
In class when we listened to N.W.A I was ecstatic, rap is by far my favorite genre, and I liked the conversation we had about rap being a genre. My opinion lies on the side that says that a genre of music is any sound or melody that can be presented in an art form. N.W.A is legendary and has formed a dynasty over the years. I watched Dr. Dre's music video for "I need a doctor"; a song that recently came out. In the end it has a tribute to Eazy-E. Dr. Dre walks up to his grave and places flowers around it. It was very inspirational to watch because after all of those years dre still takes care of the N.W.A dynasty. I think this is one reason they will always be incredibly relevant.
Here is the Eazy - E tribute.

J. Cole
J. Cole came out with a single called "Power Trip" a few months ago. I remember listening to the song when it came out, but I didn't like the feature: Miguel, and I didn't like J. Coles verses. A few weeks later I heard a couple good songs by Miguel and I recognized his R&B talent. Then on the radio I heard J. Cole's "Power Trip" for the second time (A rare occurrence). I really found that I liked it. It is catchy in every way and both of their chorus/singing is very impressive.
Simon and Garfunkel
When we listened to Paul Simon again in class on the jazz tape, he was playing with Art Garfunkel. In the video I noticed the amazing lyricist inside of Paul Simon; a characteristic that he always has. The most amazing thing about seeing him play and sing with someone else was the fact that he was able to harmonize better than I have seen anyone in a while. I think that Paul Simons individual characteristics stand out even more when he is with Art and that's why I like their music and Paul's older songs.

Paul Simon
In class when we listened to Paul Simon's album Graceland, I was excited because my parents introduced me to him when I was little. I had always liked his music. Graceland is a good album and I like how it isn't a traditional style of writing. It has different rhymes that don't contain a certain criteria. I like the way Paul Simon has his slow songs on the album too as those have always been my favorite. He is an all around good artist who should be commended for his recognition at the time Graceland was released.
Justin Timberlake
An experience it is, Justin Timberlake recently released his newest studio album "The 20/20 experience". With great songs titled mirrors, pusher love girl, and tunnel vision he comes back with a boom. You would think after taking a 7 year break he wouldn't have anything else to bring to the music industry, but he surprised us all with his single with jay-Z titled "Suit & Tie". The songs all present his singing skill and writing capability. You won't waste any time on this album. Here's some of the singles.

Rock Habits And Styles
In the rock music videos the other day, I found the components and the story of each music video very entertaining. In the videos the style of the clothes was so unique for the time and it definitely caught my attention. When they were performing they were very lively. It made me compare it to present day times and the way that rock stars acted in that time period. Overall the music videos were fun and made me think a lot about what they were trying to say, since that was their only way of conveying the message.

I am not a human being II rating
Lil Wayne-- the same artist of a milli and the carter quadrology, has also released 2 albums by the name of "I am Not a Human Being". The sequel to this album came out the other day as a leak and I downloaded it to check up on the old rapper to see how he is doing. It was probably the worst lil wayne album I have downloaded. The lines were recycled and repeated throughout each song, the features weren't good, and you could tell the energy was not there. I just thought that this review was super necessary because of the new album.

MTV top rap artists
MTV came out with a greatest rappers in the game list recently. I guess the list has to do with popularity at the moment. I agree with some names on the list however some dont deserve a spot. Here is theirs, and below it I did my own
10. Meek Mill
9. Future
8. A$AP Rocky
7. Kanye West
6. Big Sean
5. Drake
4. Nas
3. Rick Ross
2. 2Chainz
1. Kendrick Lamar
Meek mill
Rick Ross
Pusha T
J. Cole
Big Sean
Nas
Kanye west
A$AP rocky
Kendrick Lamar
Drake
I thought I needed to add J. Cole and Pusha T because of their impact in the game for the last couple years. I edited the order because drake Kendrick and ASAP have done the most work and have been the best lately hands down.

5am in Toronto
After Drake released Started From The Bottom, my expectations for his new album dropped. This week he released his new single that will be featured on the album called, 5am in Toronto. As soon as I heard drake come in with his first few bars I knew it was gold. This is the quality I look for in a drake song and i felt like i didn't get it in started from the bottom. The song had a quality beat and drake meets all standards when he starts rapping. The lyrics were creative and it was everything I wanted in a song.

Trinidad James
I found a new rap artist who will be attendeding SXSW so I thought I would take a deeper look at his music. Some of his music reminds me of T.I, and a lot of it has his own style. I like the way he transitions from a calm chorus to his periodic rapping. Here is his best song:
Class Reflection
This week in class when we listened to punk, i liked a lot of the catchy songs and catchy styles of music. I found it interesting that without all of the genres that aren't recognized as much today, genres like rap and pop wouldn't have started to become popular. I think that punk was a good start to some of these genres. I especially like the clash because of their devotion to the same style and unique playing. In each one of their songs these things are present so I like to listen to the band. Punk overall wasn't bad and I respect the catchy genre.

New Finds
Recently I found a website that makes it easy to download music, I started messing around and I completed some of my albums in my iTunes library. I noticed chris brown was something that I had parts of but I needed more. I downloaded his most recent album and listened to it in full length. I found that I really enjoyed the R&B for once, it gave me something slow and meaningful to listen to. I definitely recommend this album if you like anything by Chris Brown.
Stevie Wonder
In class we listened to Stevie Wonder, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to him even before we listened in class and this definitely made it more fun to learn about him and listen to him again. At ACL a couple years back he was there and I saw him. Live, he put on a good show and I thought he lived up to his fame. The keyboard playing was my favorite part because a singer who can play an instrument makes things better by a long shot. I hope to keep listening to him in class and I want to find more of his classic songs.

People, Hell, and Angels
In class, when we watched the video that presented a lot of Jimi Hendrix's works and his performances, I remembered that I saw that they are releasing an album in honor of him next month. I thought it was really cool how now a days people respect him like they did in his prime. Knowing that it has to do with his amazing talent on the guitar makes it even cooler since the Guitar will always be around.
Lumineers
I recently figured out that the Lumineers will be in Austin soon for a show, so I decided i would look at some of their music and decide if it was worth it for me to go. I listened to some of their album "The Lumineers" and I really liked what I heard. It has a folk aspect that is similar to Mumford and sons, a band that I like. I liked the voice of the lead singer and I liked how it was uptempo but at the same time it had a laid back tone. Here is one of the best songs from the album

Sad vs Happy
In class when we were talking about if more people listen to sad music in sad situations or if more people listen to happy music in sad situations.
I said that I normally listen to sad music in sad situations because it makes the most sense, because you are able to relate.
When we listened to Joni Mitchell in class I found that her music would be considered sad in my opinion because of the slow melody and the story behind it, this type of sad music is what i normally go to and I found it interesting to hear how others do not do the same.

Travis Scott
G.O.O.D music, a rap group led by Kanye West, recently came out with an album called cruel summer. It has a lot of great content with some really lyrical tracks. I find new things about this album everyday and recently I noticed a new artist on a song I had listened to quite a bit. His name is travis scott. He got my attention when he came in on a line at the beginning of their song "sin city". The lyrics that got my attention were: 'She stepped into hell cause winter got cold'. I was curious about this line and liked how he made it sound.
Heres the track
I started to listen to him more and found other great songs like these.

David Bowie
In class we listened to David Bowie, and it reminded me of a few years ago when I found out about the music from my parents. I liked hearing these songs in class because they reminded me that it they are so respected by everyone who listens. I recently discovered that David Bowie has a new album that is going to be released in march. I decided to take a look and listened to one of the singles. I like his sound but i found so many differences between the years. The pace of the music seemed completely different. I like to think that he is still as popular among the same people today as he was when his first few albums came out.
New Drake
One of the artists that I have followed ever since the beginning, drake, has come out with a new single for his next album. I have listened to it many times and usually my reaction is clear with his work. But with this song I can not decide how I feel about the way it sounds although like the different twist he put on it. Drakes songs usually have deep vocals and heavy beats or he will do a song with a slow beat and sing over it. This song not only has both of those which is always good, but his voice does not sound the same as usual. He raps over a light hearted beat and repeats himself a lot. I think it makes me happy more than anything to see new music from him.

Led Zeppelin
Today in class when we listened to Led Zeppelin, I was excited because they are a historically significant band and lots of people I know love their music. I found that the music was very up tempo and made me want to get up and move around which I liked. When the two longest songs on the album appeared it was hardly noticed because they were so well drawn together with the rest of the album and for the most part all of the songs felt the same length even though some took up a lot of time. I liked stairway to heaven because it was cool to see what was popular when that band first started. That song was thought of as a hit and I like to think I listened to it despite how many say it is overplayed.

50 Cent
Now that 50 Cent has been making music again, he is set a release date for his next studio album called Street King Immortal. I like how he has bounced back after everyone said he wouldn't. He has one of the best verses in one of the most hyped songs of the year: Hate bein' sober, by Chief Keif. Also 50 cent has been busy on his own tracks and singles, one of them is called major distribution. I like his serious and punishing new style. It makes me feel like he is in his prime again. Here are the two tracks.

Suit & Tie
Someone who hasn't been on the music in a while is Justin Timberlake, and is starting to release music again. He just released a single called Suit & Tie featuring Jay-Z. I typically don't care for heavy pop music like this with the bubbly beats, but I like how Justin Timberlake is returning to music and with the addition of Jay-Z it completes the song.
Mashups
In class we watched the documentary about Girl Talk and his mashups, and there is a controversy surrounding whether or not the mashups should be aloud without infringement on the copy right acts. I believe that mashups should be expressed and should be an available piece of music that is for sale and for the publics use. Another way that certain music is reused is in something called a sample. In my opinion Kanye West samples songs the best. I found this video interesting, and it explains samples and slows them down.

Black Sabbath
In class we listened to Black Sabbath, which involved a lot of heavy guitar parts and loud distorted tones. I like guitar and electric guitar but sometimes at this level it can be too much for me. Although I liked listening to Black Sabbath because the type of rock songs that they did are classics and the rock paved the way for some of the newer rock we have today. Like we were saying, for every genre there has to be a start up genre and those genres evolve over time. Overall I think I am going to enjoy listening to more of their music.
Long Live A$AP
An upcoming artist that I have been listening to ever sine his first mix tape and his early singles. A$AP rocky has a unique sound that is explosive and also provokes motivation. I like his music because every song has clever lyrics with grimy beats that have heavy bass. A$AP rocky wants to provide his listeners with evidence of his past in harlem and you can tell he wants to be part of a movement. His music is going to revive the rap game into something new. His newest album called "Long Live A$AP" is one of my favorite albums right row and I think it deserves 10 stars.
Here are some of the songs
